the grand teton mountains rising

To see the Grand Teton Mountains rising in the distance while the wildflowers are in bloom is an experience I will not forget anytime soon. The mountains remind you how small humans are in the grand timeline of everything. A glacier moves at a speed that our minds cannot comprehend. As they melt in the summer, filling the valleys with water when the dry days come, you see more of the mountain. The jagged edges remind you of the water, wind, time, and tectonic forces that have been working for millions of years to bring the mountains right here before you.

When I watch the sunset light reflecting off of the mountains, I give thanks for this moment of peace and quiet. The holiday crowds have disappeared and darkness starts to fill the valley from the east. In a few more minutes, fireworks can be seeing glowing above Jackson, Wyoming. Silent lights exploding in the distance. Life. Celebrating.
